Re-Style
Biography
Mathijs Maas, known as Re-Style, was born on March 13, 1986, in Middelburg, the Netherlands. Hailed as the “youngest veteran” of the hardcore scene, he started mixing early forms of the genre at the age of twelve and soon decided to produce his own music.
His career truly took off when he made his debut on the Masters of Hardcore label at fifteen. He created the official anthem for the very first Masters of Hardcore event at the Westfalenhallen in Dortmund, Germany, and went on to become a key contributor to the label, playing a major role in the evolution of modern hardcore.
Over the years, Re-Style has produced many anthems for major events such as Masters of Hardcore, Toxicator, and Harmony of Hardcore, including Ultimate Hardcore Feeling (Harmony of Hardcore), Savage & Wild (Masters of Hardcore Russia), and The Awakening (Masters of Hardcore Austria).
His accessible, signature style has earned him the affection of fans and peers alike. He has performed at some of the world’s biggest electronic music festivals, including Tomorrowland, Thunderdome, Defqon.1, Dominator Festival, Intents Festival, and Decibel Outdoor Festival.
In 2018, he began incorporating elements of frenchcore into his music. His production Get It Crackin’, originally released in 2009, was notably remixed by Sefa. That same year, he collaborated with Charly Lownoise on City Streets.
Several of his tracks charted in the Masters of Hardcore Top 100, such as Leap of Faith, Hate Me, Basshead, and Sefa’s remix of Get It Crackin’. In addition to Masters of Hardcore, he has released music on labels such as Roughstate, Pussy Lounge Records, and Foolish Records.
In March 2020, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic and the cancellation of the 25th edition of Masters of Hardcore, he took part in the official Hardcore Therapy podcast.
