Mikkas
Biography
Mikkas is the music project of Danish producer Kasper Smed Nielsen, from Copenhagen.
He started producing music in 1998, at the age of twelve, using very basic software. A few years later, his cousin introduced him to Propellerheads Reason, which became a major turning point.
In the beginning, Mikkas was a duo with his friend Mikkel Havmand. Their distinctive style quickly drew attention within the underground trance scene. The project later became a solo act led by Kasper Smed Nielsen, without any loss in production quality.
He has produced remixes and collaborated with many international producers, including Megara vs. DJ Lee, Sebastian Brandt, Bobina and Pulsedriver.
In 2006, Kasper formed the duo Backslash vs. Mikkas with his friend Nicholas Soebye, shifting toward a more commercial sound and achieving major success on the commercial dance scene. This collaboration ended in early 2010.
Today, Kasper Smed Nielsen—24 years old at the time this source was written—has returned to his roots with the trance music that first made him known, with more to come following remixes for genre figures such as Bobina and Sebastian Brandt.
