Sianna
Biography
Sianna, born Anna Sîrbu, was born on September 1 under the sign of Virgo.
The daughter of a Ukrainian father and a mother of Romanian origin, she grew up in Orhey in a happy, balanced childhood surrounded by family and many friends. She discovered a passion early on for music, dance and painting, and later devoted herself to writing poetry. At 19 she moved to Romania and obtained Romanian citizenship a few years later. She currently lives in Bucharest and speaks Romanian, Russian and English.
Her musical career began in late 2007 as part of the euro-pop duo MR & MS, alongside musician and producer Radu Sirbu, known for being a member of the boy band O-Zone. The project’s first single, Love Is Not a Reason to Cry, written by the duo and signed to Universal Music, was released in March 2008 and was nominated at the Romanian Music Awards (RMA) in the category ‘Best New Act’ at the end of 2008.
A few months later the duo released their first album, Heartbeat, a compilation blending pop, rock, R&B and electro. All tracks were composed by Sianna and Radu Sirbu, who also handled production; Sianna regards this period as formative, marking her first steps on stage and in the media.
Alongside her artist career she focused on songwriting and collaborations, contributing to many tracks that became hits in Europe and the CIS, such as Single Lady, [song]Don’t Cry[/song], [song]City Of Sleeping Hearts[/song], [song]Lambada Night[/song], [song]Goodbye (Beautiful Eyes)[/song], [song]Don’t You Stop The Music[/song], [song]Radio Waves[/song], [song]Drive[/song], [song]Big Girl[/song], [song]I Don’t Wanna Lose You[/song] and [song]Mister DJ[/song].
Among them, Single Lady, co-written with Radu Sirbu for DJ Layla‘s project and released in December 2008, was a major success: it quickly reached number one on the main radio stations in Romania and Moldova and became a hit across many European countries. In Russia the single remained in the Top 100 Hit for more than 40 weeks with over 570,000 airplays and reached number one on Europe Plus Moscow. In early 2010 it won the ‘Most aired song – 2009’ category at the Radio Romania Actualitati Awards (RRA Awards).
In spring 2010 Sianna began work on her first solo album with Radu Sirbu; after several attempts a new studio session produced Sweetest Pie, her first official solo single, released in December 2010.
Sianna expresses a passion for music that transcends genres, believing that good music finds its listener. Outside of music she is passionate about fashion.
