DJ Layla
Biography
Natalia Ostasina, known as DJ Layla, was born on 11 July 1987 in Chișinău and spent a large part of her childhood in Ukraine.
After finishing high school, she began studying law at the State University of Moldova in 2005. During her early university years, she turned her passion for music into a concrete activity, starting to DJ in 2007 with support from the Sunset People collective—especially DJs Maxwell Sunbeat and Kristina Vixen—at the Red Club.
She managed to combine her two passions, law and music, and became involved in numerous projects for top clubs in Ukraine and Moldova.
The year 2007 also marked the start of a successful collaboration with two other female DJs, forming the project Ladies on Fire. The trio, which included DJ Layla, quickly gained success and was in high demand in clubs.
In early 2008, DJ Layla and another Ladies on Fire member were invited to take part in the opening of the Evolution Party festival, alongside international artists such as Yves Larock (Jaba), Fragma, Lexter and Michelle Shellers.
Between 2007 and 2008, she contributed to projects such as Deep Love, Ladies on Fire, 2×4, Mixtura Tour and Vibrations.
In October 2008, she began working with a team of Romanian producers on her first album. At their initiative, she recorded her first track, Single Lady, with singer Alyssa. Released in late 2008, the song quickly reached the top of the charts on major radio stations in Romania and Moldova.
In January 2009, DJ Layla signed a contract with one of Romania’s leading labels, Cat Music, becoming one of their artists.
