Alexander Popov

Alexander Popov, full name Aleksandr Vitalyevich Popov (Александр Витальевич Попов), is a Russian DJ and producer born on 2 April 1986 in Saratov. Considered one of the fastest rising figures in Russian music, he now focuses mainly on Progressive and Trance music.

His productions, both dance and instrumental, are noted for their beauty and melodic quality. His early instrumental works were highly regarded by professional musicians and composers, while his more recent tracks are regularly played by world-renowned DJs such as Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren.

His tracks are released on prestigious international labels based in the UK, Germany, Australia and Russia — notably VANDIT, Five AM, Monster Tunes and Insatiable Records — and frequently appear in charts and compilations like ‘ATB The DJ’, ‘Dreamdance’ and ‘Trancemaster’. They are also broadcast on famous radio shows worldwide such as ‘A State Of Trance’, ‘Anjunabeats Worldwide’, ‘Tiesto – Clublife’, ‘VOYNIC Sessions’ and ‘Corsten’s Countdown’.

Rich Mowatt, creator of the well-known trance project Solarstone, which released Alexander Popov’s first track, Vapour Trails, called him ‘a rising Russian star’. Russia’s number one DJ, Feel, described him as ‘one of the best producers in Russia, both in terms of sound and ideas’.

Alongside his production work, Alexander Popov performs as a DJ, skillfully blending nuances of Progressive House and Trance, sometimes colored by Electro and Tech influences. He has shared bills with top Russian DJs including Feel and Agent Smith, and has hundreds of performances to his name, from small club nights to large open-air festivals such as Kazantip Z’15. He also serves as artistic director of a nightclub.
