Xandee
Biography
Xandee is the stage name of the Flemish singer Sandy Boets, born on December 18, 1978.
She represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul with the uptempo dance song 1 Life. Although considered one of the favorites before the contest, her performance garnered only 7 points, 5 of which came from neighboring Netherlands, and placed 22nd out of 24 participants.
This disappointment gave rise to the phrase “Doing a Xandee” among Eurovision fans, to describe a highly anticipated participant who ends up at the bottom of the ranking. A similar fate befell the Belgian representative Kate Ryan two years later, a top favorite who failed to qualify for the final.
Her music career began earlier, at the age of 16, when she founded the pop duo “Touch of Joy” with Serge (Sergio) Quisquater. The latter, with his band Sergio & The Ladies, had represented Belgium at Eurovision 2002 with the song Sister.
She is also known under the alias Sandy.
