Born in Palo Alto, California, Anne Tello is an American artist and songwriter based in London. She began classical Suzuki piano at age 4 and started working as a professional musician in her teens, singing in synagogues around the Boston area.
She later moved to New York City to study musical theater in the CAP21 program at the New York University Tisch School of the Arts, where she received the Martin Luther King Jr. scholarship. She also holds an MSc in Behavioural Economics from the City University of London.
As a performer, she has played venues across the USA including Bowery Electric, Whiskey a Go Go, and the Standard Hotel.
As a writer, she co-wrote Fake Friends, PS1’s 2020 breakout single, which reached the Top 20 of the UK Official Charts, was certified Gold in the UK, and has nearly 50 million streams on Spotify. In 2021, her cut Reaching Out by Dillon Francis featuring Bow Anderson debuted on 35 Spotify New Music Friday playlists worldwide. She also had a cut with Global Records artist Holy Molly; the track Watch Me reached the Top 10 in Romania’s radio charts.
She has additionally written music for internationally televised commercials for brands including Kewpie and Soft Bank.
Among releases credited to her X O Anne project is the track Dark Side of the Moon (2023), dated 2023.
