
Tori Amos
Biography
Tori Amos, born Myra Ellen Amos on August 22, 1963 in Newton, North Carolina, is a singer, songwriter and pianist.
Classically trained, she has a mezzo-soprano voice and began composing piano pieces from a very young age.
At age five, she received a full scholarship to the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, becoming the youngest person admitted. She left the institute at age eleven after her scholarship was discontinued.
She has been married to engineer Mark Hawley since 1998 and they have a daughter, Natashya Hawley, born in 2000.
Throughout her career, she has used several aliases, including Ari Tomos, Ellen Amos and Tess Makes Good.
