Biography
Thea Austin, born Thea Tereese Austin on June 10, 1967, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a singer, songwriter, and international hitmaker. Her career gained global recognition in 1992 when she became the lead singer and songwriter for the dance collective Snap!. She is the iconic voice behind the mega-hit Rhythm Is A Dancer, which reached number one on the Billboard charts and numerous other charts, becoming a definitive hit of the 1990s.
Following this success, she pursued a prolific solo career in the house scene. She collaborated with the duo Pusaka (Chris Cox and DJ Irene) on the track I'm Addicted/You're The Worst Thing For Me, and in 2003 with the Beat Hustlerz on Just About Had Enough – both singles reached number one on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
Recognized as a dynamic stage performer, powerful vocalist, and talented songwriter, she continues to influence electronic music.
