The Outhere Brothers
Biography
The American duo The Outhere Brothers was formed in Chicago in 1987. It consists of lyricist Keith "Malik" Mayberry and producer/remixer Lamar "Hula" Mahone.
Their musical style, often categorized as hip-house or eurodance, made them famous through a series of international hits. Their single Boom Boom Boom sold over one million copies in Europe. The following track, Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle), also reached number one on the UK chart.
With these two titles, The Outhere Brothers became the third group in history to achieve the feat of two consecutive number-one hits in the United Kingdom with their first two releases. Their repertoire also includes tracks like La La La Hey Hey.
Their explicit lyrics, sometimes compared to those of the group 2 Live Crew, sparked controversies, particularly in the UK in the late 1990s, where censorship attempts occurred due to their large teenage audience. Their music found particular resonance in discotheques, both traditional and gay clubs.
The duo is also known by several names and variations, including Outhere Bros, Outhere, O.B., The Out Here Brothers, or The Outthere Brothers.
