Sunrise Avenue
Biography
Sunrise Avenue is a Finnish band from Helsinki, originally formed in 1992 under the name Sunrise, a name it kept until 2001.
The band was founded in 2002 in Espoo by singer Samu Haber and a former guitarist. Over the years, the lineup went through several changes. The final lineup consisted of Samu Haber (vocals, guitar), Raul Ruutu (bass, backing vocals), Sami Osala (drums), Riku Rajamaa (guitar), and Osmo Ikonen (keyboards, backing vocals).
Former members include Janne Kärkkäinen (guitar, backing vocals; 2002–2007), Jukka Backlund (keyboards; 2006–2008), as well as Teijo Jämsä (drums). Other musicians were also part of the band at different times, including Jan Hohenthal, Sami Heinänen, Juho Sandman, Olli Tumelius, Lenni-Kalle Taipale, and Heikki Puhakainen.
The band permanently ceased activity in 2022. During its career, Sunrise Avenue released five studio albums, two live albums, two EPs, and a compilation album.
