Biography
Sandra N. is the stage name of Alexandra Iulia Năftănăilă, also known under the alias Alexandra Năftănăilă. Born on 2 October 1991 in Albeștii de Muscel (Argeș County, Romania), she is a Romanian dance music singer. She is the daughter of Ion Năftănăilă, the mayor of the Albeștii de Muscel commune.
She began her career at the age of 4 by taking part in a children’s music TV show, then continued her musical path at a local music school. She later represented her country at several music festivals in Europe, including in Turkey and Italy. She plays guitar and piano, and has been writing melodies and lyrics since the age of 14.
In 2006 she recorded her first pop album featuring 10 songs, which she performed in concerts around the country accompanied by two dancers. That same year, she took vocal lessons for three years at the music school of teacher Crina Mardare, and later released a covers album.
In 2011 she entered the music industry with Adrian Sina as her manager. She became widely known through collaborations such as Angel (with Adrian Sina) and I'm Sorry and Boracay (with Akcent). The first two collaborations received three nominations at the Romanian Music Awards in 2012: Best Male Artist for Angel, and Best Pop Song and Best Group for I’m Sorry.
In 2013 she auditioned for the series “O nouă viață” broadcast on Acasă TV, playing the role of Sandra, which required her to dye her hair pink. Also in 2013 she signed with Roton and released Te joci cu mințea mea, as well as Boracay as a duo with Akcent.
In 2014 she released Liar, a track that achieved notable success abroad, followed by Ballerina. Across these songs, she is credited as co-writer of the lyrics and performs the melody. Her English-language songs helped build international recognition, leading to concerts in Pakistan, Russia and Lebanon as part of the Nrj Music Tour. In 2015 she released the single My eyes hurt me.
