
Rik Shaw
Biography
Rik Shaw (real name Richard Warfield Smith) is a deep, funky, progressive and tech house DJ based in Dublin, Ireland, originally from Leicester, England.
Active on the DJ circuit for over 12 years, he holds a residency at Howl At The Moon in Dublin, where he plays commercial house on Fridays. He is also a radio presenter on Play Dublin: he previously hosted a Wednesday afternoon slot, and he presents #GlobalLive every Monday from 8–9pm on playdublin.net.
After moving to Dublin in 2013, he joined The Signature Group’s weekly Saturday evening “Hot Traxx” show and became resident DJ for Republic Nights’ 3rd and 4th year events. He also played the Ministry Of Sound Live Tour alongside Shane Keogh, Brian Taafe and Generic People. In 2014, he was booked for the “No Saints Just Sinners” house event at Club 52 on St Patrick’s Day.
Before Dublin, Rik Shaw worked across clubs in Leicester, including a seven-year residency at The Fan Club Nightclub. His “No Limits” night, launched in September 2006, continues there today. He has also worked alongside Dave Pearce and Graeme Park, warming up for both and performing with them on the nights.
In July 2009 he began producing his #Global mix CDs, which remain in production. On the technical side, he works with Pioneer CDJ 2000s and a Pioneer DDJ-SX with a Macbook running Traktor Pro and Serato DJ.
Alongside club work, he has experience in radio presenting and production: from 2004 to 2013 he was a presenter on US dance station “Energy 98”, and he also hosted a daily five-hour morning show on Leicester community station “103 The Eye”.
