Rednex

Rednex is a Swedish group formed in the 1990s, known for blending pop, eurodance, country, folk, and bluegrass. Their success is built on innovative tracks like Cotton Eye Joe, Old Pop in an Oak, The Spirit of the Hawk, and Wish You Were Here.

The project is characterized by numerous line-up changes and the systematic use of pseudonyms. Producer Patrick Edenberg used the alias Pat Reiniz. Until 2011, the band performed with fixed line-ups. From 2012 onwards, they adopted a pool system with mixed formations that vary depending on the location and availability of performers.

The initial line-up included Annika Ljungberg (Mary Joe), Kent Olander (Bobby Sue), Anders Arstrand (Ken Tacky), Jonas Nilsson (Billy Ray), and Patrick Edenberg (Mup). Urban Landgren (BB Stiff) quickly replaced Edenberg. In 1996, Ljungberg was replaced by Mia Löfgren (Whippy). Around 2000, a complete overhaul introduced Julie Tulley (Scarlet), Anders Sandberg (Dagger), Roy van der Haagen (Joe Cagg), and Jean-Paul Engeln (Jay Lee).

Van der Haagen and Engeln left in 2003, replaced by Tor Pentén (Ace Ratclaw) and Björn Scheffler (Boneduster Crock). Tulley left a year later. Ljungberg returned in 2006, securing exclusive licensing rights to the Rednex brand until the end of 2008. She replaced Scheffler with her husband Jens Sylsjö (Snake) and Sandberg with Anders Lundström (Maverick).

On January 1, 2009, control of the brand reverted to the founders, who dismissed all current members. They were replaced by former members from Rednex Tribute. Since 2012, the group operates with a large pool of characters. For each performance, one female singer and three male performers are selected from this pool. New members on trial carry the nickname Puppy (male) or Puppette (female).

Current members include Tor Pentén (Ace Ratclaw), Cecilia Karlsson (Misty Mae), Jan Blumentrath (Spades), Christian Sterba (Pervis The Palergator), Uwe Grunert (Cash), Nika Karch (Zoe Duskin), Yana Görisch (Jiggie McClagganahan), Ďuro Varga (Moe Lester the Limp), Siddy Bennett (Pickles), Benjamin Giubarelli (Dixie Chopper), and Daniel Cuba Coltsman (Dusty).

Notable former members include Pontus Söderqvist (Rufus Jones), Anders Lundström, Mia Löfgren, Annika Ljungberg, Julie Tulley, Anders Sandberg, Jens Sylsjö, Urban Landgren, Kent Olander, Anders Arstrand, Jean-Paul Engeln (Jay Lee), Roy van der Haagen (Joe Cagg), Patrick Edenberg, Nadja Flood (Dakotah), Jonas Nilsson, and Björn Scheffler (Boneduster Crock).

In 2012, a separate, short-lived formation, Rednex NZ, was created for performances in New Zealand and Australia, featuring members like Theresa Murphy (Rayanna Randy Payne), Anthony Sibbald (Rawtooth Rick), and Pascal Roggen (Slimboy). The group has also used the alias Collo Rossi.
