Purple Disco Machine
Biography
Purple Disco Machine is the stage name of German producer and DJ Tino Piontek, born on 12 February 1980 in Dresden, where he still lives. Originally from the former German Democratic Republic, he discovered Western rock music at an early age thanks to his father.
His musical journey began in 1996 producing on Cubase and using synthesizers, alongside discovering house music in Dresden’s nightlife. Active as a DJ, he performed under the pseudonym Stereofunk from 2005 to 2012 before adopting the name Purple Disco Machine in 2012, the year his first productions were released.
Specializing in disco and house, he achieved an international breakthrough with his debut album released in 2017 on Sony Music Entertainment. His biggest hit came in August 2020 with Hypnotized, a collaboration with Sophie and the Giants that reached number two on the Italian charts and was certified double platinum.
That same year he produced official remixes of Don't Start Now and Rain on Me. In 2023 his remixing skill was crowned with a Grammy Award for “Best Remix Recording” for his remix of About Damn Time by Lizzo.
Purple Disco Machine also hosts the show “Purple Disco Tales” on SiriusXM’s Studio 54 channel, broadcast on Fridays.
