PPK

PPK, also written as ППК in Cyrillic, is an electronic music project originating from Rostov-on-Don, Russia. The trio, founded in 1997, was initially composed of Alexander Polyakov, Pimenov, and DJ Корж. The project’s name is directly derived from the initials of these three founding members. DJ Корж left the group shortly after its formation, leaving an active duo.

PPK’s musical style is primarily in the trance genre. Their most famous track, ResuRection, achieved worldwide success. This piece, based on the melody from the theme of the 1979 Russian film ‘Sibériade’, was offered as a free download on mp3.com, where it was downloaded millions of times. This phenomenon led the duo to sign with Paul Oakenfold’s label, Perfecto.

PPK released two albums, ‘Reload’ and ‘Russian Trance: Formation’, the latter being essentially a reissue of the first. The duo disbanded in 2003. Following this separation, Alexander Polyakov dedicated himself to developing the electronic music scene in Russia. He founded his own label, iRecords, in 2005, with the goal of promoting new Russian talents in the field of dance music. He also continues to produce and perform as a DJ and live act.

The project is also known by several other names and variations, such as P.P.K., PPK Robots, Perfecto, or Роботы ППК.
