Pacific Blue
Biography
Pacific Blue is the stage name of Norwegian trance producer Per Kristian Grytdal, born on February 22, 1974.
His career began at age 15 when he performed a rap at a party. He later formed a rap band with a DJ, which evolved into a dance project.
In 1993, the project nearly signed a deal with EMI. During his military service, the band disbanded and Per Kristian took a long break.
In 1998, he produced the track Hurricane, which caught the attention of several record labels. He signed with the label edel in autumn 1998.
He officially launched his career performing at a dance party at the Oslo Spectrum on Christmas 1998, alongside artists like Sash!.
His debut album, *Horizon*, was released in September 1999 and sold over 20,000 copies in Norway. Four singles were released from it, including Hurricane, Sunrise, and Ocean, all reaching the Norwegian top 10. Hurricane and Sunrise were among the best-selling tracks of 1999.
After a Norwegian tour in spring 2000, he took another break.
Following the closure of Edel Records’ Norwegian office (2001-2002), Pacific Blue signed with Nordic Records Norway in summer 2002 and released three singles for a forthcoming album.
In 2003, he remained Norway’s best-selling trance artist.
