Özhan Özal
Biography
Ozhan Ozal, born on March 27, 1973, began his DJ career in 1988 while still in high school. He started playing the piano at the age of 15.
In the early 1990s, due to his father’s work, he traveled across Europe. He visited many cities, discovering organizations, nightclubs, and events that enriched his dance-music culture.
As early as 1989–1990, he began remixing popular songs with his own dance-music style. He shared his creations with DJ friends to help develop Istanbul’s electronic-music culture. From 1990 to 2009, he performed in renowned clubs throughout Turkey.
His DJ style is generally recognized as progressive house and minimal house. He is regarded as the first artist to integrate global rhythms into Turkish songs through remixing, contributing to the evolution of Turkish dance music. These achievements allowed him to play an important role in Turkish club life and inspired many producers to pursue original projects.
At a time when club owners and some artists opposed this new trend due to the established popular culture, he persevered on his own with his projects to establish Turkish music in nightclubs across the country.
