Novaspace
Biography
Novaspace is a German eurodance project founded in 2002 by producer Felix Gauder. The project initially featured singer Jessica Boehrs, who was replaced in 2008 by Jenny Marsala.
Their first hit was the single Time After Time, a cover of the 1984 hit by Cyndi Lauper; it reached number 6 on the German charts and its video aired on MTV, raising Novaspace’s profile in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and parts of Eastern Europe such as Hungary and the Czech Republic, leading to numerous TV appearances and interviews.
In autumn 2002 the group released a second single, a cover of To France, a 1984 song originally performed by Maggie Reilly, which also became a European hit, reaching the Top 20 in Germany.
Their debut album, Supernova, was released in January 2003 and, like the rest of the project, focused on covers of 1980s hits; the same year they scored another major success with their cover of Run to You (1984). Around Christmas 2004 they released their third major single, Guardian Angel, a cover of the 1983 No.1 hit by Masquerade, which reached the German Top 10.
Between 2002 and 2004 Novaspace had several cover successes of 80s hits, regularly reaching the Top 20 in Germany, Austria and even Australia.
