Biography
Nicki French, born Nicola Sharon French, is an English singer and dancer, born on 26 September 1964 in Carlisle, Cumbria.
She is best known for her 1994 dance cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart, which became a major international hit in 1995. The single reached No. 5 in the UK and No. 2 in the United States, and also hit No. 1 in several countries including Japan, Canada, Spain and Brazil. It charted in many other markets as well (Australia, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway) and sold over 5 million copies.
The success earned her three US honors at the Dance Music Raspberry Authority Magazine Awards: Single of the Year, Breakthrough and Female Singer of the Year.
In 2000, she represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest with Don't Play That Song Again, finishing 16th. Her discography also includes the singles For All We Know (1995), Did You Really Love Me (1995), Is There Anybody Out There? (1995) and Te Amo (1997).
