Najoua Belyzel

Najoua Belyzel

Biography

Najoua Belyzel, born Najoua Mazouri, is a French singer born on December 15, 1981, in Nancy. Of Moroccan and Egyptian origin, she showed an early interest in music and began writing her own songs at the age of 14.

After starting law studies in 2001 at the University of Nancy, she moved to Paris to devote herself to music. Her career truly began after an audition where she joined the band Benoît, known for the single Tourne-toi Benoît addressing the theme of homosexuality. The band subsequently experienced moderate success before disbanding.

She then met the songwriter Christophe Casanave, whose compositions have been performed by artists such as Steeve Estatof and Marc Lavoine. Their collaboration gave birth to the song Stella, which would appear on her first album.

In November 2005, she released her debut single, Gabriel, an electro-pop dance track that became a major success in France, reaching number three on the Top 40. Her first album, *Entre Deux Mondes*, was released on May 29, 2006, and debuted directly at number seven on the French sales charts and number one on the French iTunes Store.

In late 2006 and early 2007, she embarked on a tour of France and French-speaking Europe to promote the album. Her musical universe, at the crossroads of pop and electronica, has sometimes led to comparisons with Mylène Farmer. Among her other notable singles are Je ferme les yeux and Comme toi.
