Music Instructor

Biography

Music Instructor is a German electronic music project, active mainly in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The producers and composers behind the project are Mike Michaels, Mark Dollar and Mark Tabak, who also form the production collective Triple-M Crew.

Their first album, The World of Music Instructor, was released in 1996 and featured a collaboration with musician and singer Holly Trance, steering the sound toward dance and techno close to happy hardcore. Their first single was a cover of Hymn released in 1995, followed by the singles [song]Hands In The Air[/song], [song]Dream A Little Dream[/song] and [song]Dance[/song]. They also released a cover of Friends Will Be Friends, which did not appear on the album.

With the renewed popularity of electro in 1998, Music Instructor evolved into a more clearly electro-focused project. Their second album, Electric City of Music Instructor (1999), drew on 1980s breakdance culture while adding futuristic elements. It was accompanied by the singles [song]Rock Your Body[/song], [song]Get Freaky[/song] and [song]Electric City[/song], which featured the breakdance crew Flying Steps, while [song]Get Freaky[/song] also included the group Lunatics. Specific single edit versions were created for [song]Get Freaky[/song] and [song]Electric City[/song], different from the album originals. The album also included covers of electro classics such as Jam On It, Don't Stop The Rock, Pack Jam (Look Out For The OVC) and Let The Music Play.

After that album, the project released the singles [song]DJ’s Rock Da House[/song] (1999), [song]Super Fly (Upper MC)[/song] with rapper Dean of the Lunatics (2000), and [song]Play My Music[/song] with Veronique (2001). They also remixed Dreams In My Fantasy. The Triple-M Crew additionally produced other artists such as Highland, The Boyz, Overground, Before Four, US5 and Ayman.
