Biography

Matthew Jonathan Darey, known as Matt Darey, is a DJ and producer born on 29 November 1968 in Leicester, England.

Active since 1993, he writes, produces and remixes electronic music, spanning underground club tracks and top 10 pop chart hits. He is described as one of the first producers to help develop the trance sound from 1993 to 2000, and as a pioneer of the genre in 1994 with tracks such as Point Zero and Gamemaster.

During the 1990s he wrote and produced numerous hits, including top ten chart records like Beautiful, along with other charting tracks such as Liberation, Game Master and From Russia With Love. He also delivered remixes of key tracks including Till I Come, 1998, and No.1 hits such as Rise and Time Is Now.

He owns the Nocturnal Global label. His radio show Nocturnal is a multi-genre program broadcast on 116 FM stations worldwide, and is also available as a podcast (on iTunes and via his website). In his sets he blends electro, progressive, tech and trance, sometimes adding house and breaks; he is commonly associated with trance (including progressive and vocal trance) and dance.

He has released three artist albums: Blossom & Decay, Wolf and Retrospective. Released in 2017, Wolf is presented as the first album written and produced specifically in three-dimensional Dolby Atmos audio.
