Martika

Martika, born Marta Marrero, is an American singer-songwriter born in 1969 in California.

She began her career very young, appearing in the film “Annie” and the children’s television series ‘Kids Incorporated’.

Her self-titled debut album, released in 1988, propelled her onto the international stage with hits like More Than You Know and Toy Soldiers, the latter reaching number one in the United States in 1989.

Her musical style is mainly in the Pop and Dance genres, as shown by her cover of “I Feel The Earth Move”.

She also recorded Spanish-language versions of her songs, achieving great success in Spanish-speaking countries.

In 1991 she released her second album, “Martika’s Kitchen”, which includes the single Love…Thy Will Be Done, co-written with DEEJAY FAMILY, which became another hit.

After a long musical hiatus she returned as part of the duo Oppera, formed with her husband Michael Mozart, and later explored projects under the name Vida Edit.

She has also worked with producers such as C+C Music Factory and written for other artists.

Also known as Marta Dawson and Marta Marrero, Martika was preparing, at the time of the sources, a return to her Dance and Pop roots with a new solo album.
