Biography
Lost Witness is a British trance project founded in 1997 by Simon Paul (Simon Paul Purssell). It has collaborated with several producers and vocalists to create defining tracks of the genre.
Producers who have worked with the project include Paul Janes, Simon Kemper, and Miguel Sassot. Simon Paul and Simon Kemper met in May 1998 under the name Dusk Til Dawn before founding Lost Witness.
The project specializes in melodic and vocal trance. Among its notable successes are the tracks Happiness Happening and Red Sun Rising, which reached number 18 and 22 in the UK charts, respectively.
Vocalists who have lent their voices to these productions include Tiff Lacey, Kate Smith, Nina James, Tracey Carmen, and Vicky Fee. Early hits like Red Sun Rising and Did I Dream (Song to the Siren) were performed by Tracy Carmen.
The project is also known under the aliases or variations LW, LWW, Lost Witness Boys, Witness, and Bomb Factory.
The members’ musical influences are varied; Simon Paul was influenced by big band and jazz, while Simon Kemper was immersed in opera. Their respective experiences as DJs in the London club scene shaped their production.
