Biography
Londonbeat is a British-American pop and dance group, successful from the late 1980s to early 1990s.
The original lineup featured American singers Jimmy Chambers, Jimmy Helms, and George Chandler, along with British multi-instrumentalist William Henshall (credited as Willy M). Their breakthrough came in the Netherlands with There's A Beat Going On (Top 10), followed by 9 A.M..
Their global hit is I've Been Thinking About You, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Dance charts in 1991. Subsequent singles included A Better Love (Top 20 on the Hot 100) and Come Back (No. 1 dance). Their sound is characterized by the tight vocal harmonies of the three singers, with Henshall handling all instruments.
In 1995, they participated in the UK Eurovision selection with I'm Just Your Puppet on a … (String). Reformed in 2003, the group signed with the German label Coconut and released the album *Back in the Hi-Life*, featuring new versions of their signature songs.
Other past members include Charles Pierre, Myles Kayne, and Marc Goldschmitz. The group is also known as London Beat, LondonBeat, The London Beat, The Londonbeat, and under the alias New Londonbeat.
