Laurent Wolf

Biography

Beat, sound, nightclubbing: this is Laurent Wolf’s world. From the beginning he has been immersed in this holy trinity of the night, having forged his platinum vinyls for twelve years in his childhood bedroom in Mantes-la-Jolie. A life dedicated to the boom boom beat, the rhythm of dance, electronic music and nights at 125 BPM.

While doing his first sets in a suburban Paris nightclub, he was spotted by the manager of the Queen, who offered him a weekly disco night at that legendary Champs-Élysées club. From 1992 and for ten years, Laurent played at the Queen up to three nights a week — a true school and springboard for his recording career.

At first it was remixes, highly effective, that forged his image as a versatile, audience-focused DJ. After several years remixing for others, he decided to produce under his own name: in 1995, House Train, number 1 in the clubs, was the first proof of his talent for house production often tinged with an avant-garde electro sound.

Laurent Wolf’s Big Bang was Saxo, a worldwide dancefloor hit which, together with Calinda, became the champagne of his first album ‘Sunshine Paradise’. This double CD established his style: rhythmic music with worked drums, powerful bass and nervous percussion. He sold 200,000 maxi vinyls in 50 countries and his tracks appear on hundreds of compilations around the world.

At the same time, Laurent reinforced his recording structures by creating the labels DARKNESS in 2002, then AFRODYNAMIC and RITMODYNAMIC. For each album he reinvests in new machines to change his working methods and create new sounds, composing his albums entirely from A to Z.
