Jazmine
Biography
Jazmine is an artist of Cuban descent, born in Long Island, New York. She paused her studies to compete in several amateur contests in Florida, where she met with resounding success. It was there she met her manager, Jake Hyytia of Panther Enterprises. Together, they decided to launch her career in Europe.
A perfectionist, Jazmine spent an entire year preparing her show and seeking composers to collaborate with. Her original repertoire includes songs in English and Spanish, ranging from slow, sensual ballads to dance music. She co-wrote and co-produced all of her music.
Her tour of European discos and clubs was an immediate success. Her performances multiplied across hundreds of nightclubs, several European summer festivals, and on radio and television platforms. She also performed numerous times on various European cruise lines, such as during a Christmas show on the M/S Silja Festival between Finland and Sweden.
Signed to K-TEL in Finland for an album, her first single achieved international success. In January 1996, Love Like Never Before reached number one on the French Dance chart for two weeks, relegating Madonna to second place and outperforming entries from the same week by Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, and Whitney Houston. The track remained charted for 21 weeks, 14 of which were in the Top 10. Her second single, Woman In Love, was distributed in several European countries.
This European success prompted her to make a name for herself in the United States. She debuted for the Latin American community by participating in the television show “Sueños De Fama,” singing in eight episodes broadcast on Telemundo starting in late 1998. In January 2001, she appeared on the “PopStars” show on the WB network.
She also made her first appearance as a Whitney Houston impersonator on “Your Big Break,” a Dick Clark Productions / Buena Vista Television production, broadcast nationally from November 2000 to August 2001, before performing at several corporate events.
For nine years, Jazmine performed the role of a Whitney Houston impersonator for “Legends in Concert” at their venues worldwide, including at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan; Branson, Missouri; Hollywood, Florida; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Atlantic City, New Jersey; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
