Hermes House Band
Biography
The Hermes House Band (HHB) is a student band formed in 1982 in Rotterdam, named after their student association building. Over 100 students have participated over time, with a strict rule: members must leave upon graduating.
After original albums, they shifted to covering 70s and 80s party and disco songs. Their 1992 album “Thuis” concludes with their version of I Will Survive. Released as a single in late 1994, it became a number-one hit in the Netherlands and Belgium and is the goal anthem of football club Feyenoord Rotterdam.
In 1998, success in Germany led to the creation of “HHB International” for business outside the Netherlands, while the original band continued. With former members like Jop Wijlacker and Robin Maas, HHB International recorded further singles in Germany, including covers of Country Roads and Que Sera, Sera.
In 2001, the band created another international hit by collaborating with DJ Ötzi on a cover of Life is Life, which reached number 2 in France. Associated with dance, pop, and party music, the band has released over 25 albums and singles.
