Biography
Gammer is the stage name of British DJ and producer Matthew Lee, also known as Matt Lee.
Hailing from Northampton, he is a major figure in the British hardcore scene, particularly in the happy hardcore and hardcore styles. His emergence in this scene dates back to 2002, and he is considered one of its most important artists.
His career is marked by a close and prolific collaboration with Dougal, with whom he has formed the duo Dougal & Gammer since 2002. Together, they have produced a large number of tracks for the Essential Platinum label. In 2010, they were named Best Hardcore Producers.
Gammer has also collaborated with other leading artists in the scene such as Hixxy and Darren Styles. He was voted Hardcore DJ of the Year in 2008, 2009, and 2010, a title previously held by Darren Styles.
In 2007, he founded his own label, Muffin Music, for which he created a promotional mix. His music is regularly featured on influential compilations like the Bonkers series.
Before dedicating himself to hardcore, he produced hard dance under his real name, Matt Lee. He is also active under many aliases, including Reality, Muttley, Future Society, The A.M.D.A., Gomurpls, U Mad, Lego Pornstars, Geezy, M. Dick, and /N?. He is sometimes associated with the Baked Potato Records label, where he is said to release under the pseudonym Anon.
In 2009, he initiated the collaborative project Gammer & Friends.
