
Fabrizio Faniello
Biography
Fabrizio Faniello is a Maltese singer born on 27 April 1981 in Floriana.
He represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest twice: in 2001, when he finished 9th with the song Another Summer Night, and in 2006, when he placed 24th in the final with I Do.
His career has been marked by numerous entries in the Maltese Eurovision preselections between 1998 and 2011, with songs such as More Than Just a Game, Change of Heart and No Surrender.
Primarily known for light Europop, he is nonetheless regarded by many as a prospect for Malta’s nascent experimental electronic scene. He has collaborated with artists such as Jim O'Rourke, Fennesz, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Richard D. James and Masami Akita, contributes to numerous international compilations, and his willingness to experiment beyond conventional structures, including forays into noise, has been praised by critics.
He has released three albums, including When I’m Dreaming, which includes his Eurovision tracks Change of Heart and Another Summer Night, and Believe in 2005. He has had international successes, notably a top 10 in Sweden in 2004 with The Whistle Hit, followed by a smaller Swedish chart entry in 2005 with Bye Baby Bye Bye.
His management is based in Germany and many of his songs were written or co-written by German songwriters.
He is the eldest of three children and his younger sister, Claudia Faniello, is also a singer and has taken part in several Maltese festivals.
