DJ Volume

Biography

DJ Valium is the project of German DJ and producer Ole Wirk (born in Bremerhaven), in collaboration with Axel Konrad. His career began in 1993; he played numerous sets in Munich clubs and performed at the Love Parade in 1998 and 1999.

His first single, Keep Da Clubstyle, released in April 1999, charted in Germany. That same year, Ruff Beat reached the national Top 5. In December, the track Go Right For, featuring the voice of Tanja (also known as Tat Morena or Tanja Korb), topped the German Dance Chart and also appeared in French charts and German DJs’ playlists.

This success formalized their collaboration. The following single, Omen III, heavily inspired by a hit from Magic Affair, included a remix by the Klubbheads project and reached the Top 50 in Germany. The notable collaboration Doin' It Again, again with Tanja, then achieved international success: number one on the Swiss Dance Chart and 24 weeks in the French Top 100.

His first album, aptly titled The Album, was released as a 3-CD box set featuring many remixes, megamixes and music videos.

From 2003 the artist began to be known as DJ Volume with the release of the single Spirit of Yesterday, although he remained listed as DJ Valium in the French market.
