
DJ Satomi
Biography
DJ Satomi is the stage name of Italian producer, composer, sound engineer and DJ Simone Bocchino, born 18 September 1978 in Rome. As a teenager he drew inspiration from the European techno movement and began exploring the international club scene; he started DJing at 15. In Rome he played in clubs such as the Piper, the New Open Gate and the Alien Disco.
In 1996 he met the international Prezioso team, made up of Marvin and Andrea Prezioso, a key influence that pushed him toward production. With their support, in 1997 he released his first record under the pseudonym Simon Templar: Electricity.
After university studies, he founded the Supasonic Team with Joe Borgoni and Valentina Dante and set up a new professional studio. He collaborated with the Dancework label and producer Luca Piazzon (aka B-1), and also worked with BMG on remixes, including for Marcela Morelo. In 2002 he opened his first professional studio.
In 2003 he joined the Italian label Ipnotika Records. In 2004 he achieved major success with his first single Castles In The Sky, which reached number 1 in Spain and appeared on many compilations across Europe. He also launched the Supasonic project, notably with a well-received remix for Lullabow.
Simone Bocchino also uses the names Neuroxyde and Aki Bergen. In 2007 he won a “Gold Disk” in France and soon after created the label Starlight Music, known for collaborations including Shara Nelson of Massive Attack, D.O.N.S. and Dubfire.
He later founded the label Neurotraxx, whose tracks circulated worldwide and led to collaborations with artists such as Dannii Minogue, Ralphi Rosario, Oscar G, Miguel Migs, Goldfish, Noir, Rah Band, Honey Dijon and Moonbeam. He also gives lessons and lectures on mixing and post-production at universities and music schools. In 2014 he expanded into further projects, including work with Steyoyoke Recordings.
