DJ Mellow-D
Biography
DJ Mellow-D, real name Christian Scharnweber, was born on November 9, 1972, in Hamburg. His father, a passionate record collector, introduced him to music at an early age. As a teenager, Mellow-D acquired two turntables and a mixer, quickly surpassing his father’s mixing skills.
At 17, he became an entertainment DJ at a local club and discovered Hamburg’s electronic scene, incorporating these sounds into his sets. He quickly became a favorite of local techno groups.
His first mixed compilation, “Hard-Trance X-Plosion”, was a major success. This caught the attention of Gary D., the hardtrance master. After a meeting, Gary D. released a track by Mellow-D on EDM Records. This collaboration led to residencies at the “Devil Mania” club.
Spotted by the EFX-Club, he became their resident DJ. Booking requests poured in from all over Northern Germany, then from across the country and abroad.
In 1997, Mellow-D and friends took over the EDM Records label. This was the time of his greatest production successes. He has been the label owner since then.
A prolific artist, he uses many aliases: Novaya, Mellow Trax, Chris Daniels, Dick van Nille, Majestic 12, Crystal Hammer, DJ D, Christian Scharnweber, and Tycoon. His style is rooted in trance, particularly hard trance.
