Desaparecidos
Biography
Desaparecidos is a project from Omaha (Nebraska) artistically led by Conor Oberst, also known as the leader of Bright Eyes.
The collective includes Casey Scott, Conor Oberst, Denver Dalley, Matt Baum, Ian McElroy and Landon Hedges; credits list Conor Oberst on vocals and guitar, Denver Dalley on guitar, Landon Hedges on bass, Ian McElroy on keyboards and Matt Baum on drums, while Casey Scott appears as an associated member.
The group’s history comprises an initial phase in the early 2000s, a hiatus after the release of the album Read Music/Speak Spanish (2002), and a revival around 2010 for concerts and new releases: the track “MariKKKopa” (2012) and the album Payola (2015), released on the Epitaph label and featuring contributions from Laura Jane Grace and Tim Kasher.
An electronic-tinged remix — U Know It Ain't Love (David May Radio Mix) (2011) by David May — illustrates the migration of the project’s songs into remixed and radio formats.
Based on these elements (line-up, identified leader, remixes), Desaparecidos appears as a collaborative formation whose activity has yielded, beyond albums, covers and remixes that explore electric/electronic sonic territories on some platforms.
