Biography
Delia, whose full name is Delia Matache, was born on 7 February 1982. Her musical career began in 11th grade as part of the duo N&D formed with Nick Martin; the group’s name came from the first letters of their names. Together they released two albums in 2000 and 2002 blending house and eurodance, and produced several singles that became hits and dominated the charts.
In 2003 Delia launched a solo career firmly rooted in dance and its derivatives, with occasional R’n’B influences on her more recent work. Her first solo album, “Parfum de Fericire” (2003), includes hits such as Parfum de fericire, Imi dai fiori and Doar un joc. Her second album, “Listen-Up” (2007), spawned hits like Listen-Up, Secretul Mariei and Baby. These songs regularly occupied top chart positions and radio rotations in Romania.
Artistically trained, Delia graduated from the Dinu Lipatti Art High School in Bucharest, where she studied piano and flute. She cites among her favorite artists Café del Mar, Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani and Beyoncé. Outside of music she enjoys mall walks, mountain trips and watching films, particularly horror. Passionate about driving, she has had a license since she was 18 and drives a red Audi A4.
Considered one of Romania’s most popular and desirable stars, Delia is recognized for her impeccable vocal talent, unique style and an attitude that conveys impressive self-confidence.
