Critical Mass

Critical Mass

Biography

Critical Mass is a Dutch electronic music group formed in 1993 by producers Ed Bout and Dave van Hasselaar. The project was originally created as a live act for the label ID&T, which was at the center of the hardcore scene at the time.

The group quickly moved towards happy hardcore, a popular style in the mid-1990s. The lineup expanded with the addition of singer Ludmilla Odijk and rapper Danny Haenraets, also known as MC Energy.

Their first success came in late 1995 with the track Dancin' Together. The year 1996 confirmed their popularity with three other hits: Burnin' Love, Believe In The Future and Happy Generation.

In 1997, the group released the single Together In Dreams. Subsequently, their style evolved, and in 1999 they attempted a foray into trance with the track In Your Eyes, which became a club success. These last two tracks, in the eurotrance style, were released under the Byte Records label.
