Crispy
Biography
Crispy was a Danish traditional bubblegum dance group, founded in 1997 in Copenhagen.
The trio consisted of Mads B.B. Krog (sometimes credited Mads B.B. Krogh), the main songwriter and producer; Mette Christensen, the lead singer who also co-wrote “Love Is Waiting”; and Christian Møller, on keyboards and male backing vocals.
Their first and only album, The Game, collects sweet, upbeat dance tracks evoking tropical beaches, dinosaurs, and video games. It was recorded and mixed in Denmark, Sweden and Germany; several editions were released, including a Japanese edition with exclusive bonus tracks such as “Bad Girls” and “Happy King”.
Crispy is best known for the hit singles Licky Licky and In & Out (1999). Their success in Scandinavia and Asia earned them the “Pop Shop Award ’98” for best Scandinavian debut album.
After lead singer Mette Christensen died of cancer, the remaining members, out of respect, ceased producing under the name Crispy. They later adopted the alias XPY with Gry Bay as lead singer, released a few singles in the early 2000s, then abandoned the project.
Subsequently, Mads Krog continued a musical career under various pseudonyms.
