Biography
Commander Tom, born Thomas Weyer (29 August 1962 – 9 June 2022), was a German DJ and producer.
He became a prominent figure in the classic trance scene, notably with his emblematic track Are Am Eye?, released in 1995. The track, which heavily uses the characteristic Mentasm sound, was widely distributed across more than 80 techno compilations and mixes and received numerous remixes.
Other successes included Eye C Red, The Vulcan and, more recently, attent!on/attention! (2004), which reached number one on the German dance charts. That latter track sampled the 1997 track Superstar.
Alongside his production work he ran several labels, the most notable being Noom Records, now defunct.
A prolific artist, he explored various forms of trance and house under numerous pseudonyms, including Tom de Luxe, Phantom, Waterhouse, Mandala and Nexus 6.
