Biography

Claudia Leitte, full name Cláudia Cristina Leite Inácio Pedreira, was born on July 10, 1980 in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro. A singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and television personality, she rose to prominence in late 2002 as the lead singer of the Axé group Babado Novo.

With Babado Novo she released singles certified diamond in Brazil and earned five albums certified gold or platinum between 2003 and 2007, according to the Brazilian Association of Record Producers (ABPD).

She then launched a solo career; her first record, Ao Vivo em Copacabana (2008), recorded live before more than one million people, was certified gold and triple platinum, establishing her as one of Brazil’s biggest stars. The lead single, Exttravasa, reached number one on Brazilian charts and became one of the year’s best-selling and most-played singles.

Her first studio album, As Máscaras (2010), reached number one on Billboard’s Brazilian albums chart and earned her a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album.

Alongside Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez, she recorded We Are One (Ole Ola), the official song of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

With more than 40 million combined followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, she is one of the most powerful and popular female artists in Brazil and Latin America. She has sold over 10 million records and received numerous awards, including a Latin Grammy and three World Music Awards nominations in 2014.

Alongside her music career, she has been a coach and mentor on the Brazilian version of The Voice and its kids edition since 2012.
