Caater
Biography
Caater is an Estonian trance duo formed in Tallinn by former DJ Kalle Kukk and studio wizard Markku Tiidumaa. The collective also includes members Andrus Lang and Nuclear Man, and sometimes operates under the alias Coobalt.
The project describes itself as a collection of wild spirits and emotional chaos, creating a hundred different flavors of dance. Their driving force relies on explosive techno rhythms and a house style dedicated to perfection, blending urban glamour and rural escapism. Their music embodies classic trance embracing eurodisco, with house atmospheres and melodies that are sometimes bitter, sometimes euphoric.
Caater quickly achieved success with tracks that dominated the charts. The single Dance With You reached 6th place on the official Finnish chart and 1st place on the Estonian dance chart. Free My Body climbed to 6th place on the Finnish Disco Chart and 1st place on the Estonian Dance Chart. Other tracks like Hold That Sucker Down and The Queen of Night also broke into the Nordic dance charts.
In 1999, the group won several awards at the Estonian Music Awards, including the “Kuldne Plaat” (Golden Record) for album of the year, the award for best dance song for O Si Nene, and the award for group of the year. These distinctions established Caater as a national treasure in Estonia.
Their discography includes several albums, such as Contact (1998), Freakshow (1998), Space Invasion (1998), Millennium: The Best Of Caater (1999), King Size (2001) and The Queen of Night (2003). Among the notable singles are Phantom (2000), Enjoy the Silence (2002) and Master Tune (2002).
On stage, Caater delivers electrifying performances with go-go dancers and an MC named Spud, creating a total sensory experience. Their goal is to satisfy all audiences by mixing rock frenzy, electronic sounds, and palpable energy.
