Biography
Besa Kokedhima is an Albanian singer born on May 29, 1986, in Qeparo, Himara.
She lived in Fier for a few years before her family moved to Tirana, where she attended school and distinguished herself in school music activities as a soloist, noted for the particular color and timbre of her voice.
At the age of 15, she went to England for her secondary education and simultaneously took piano lessons. At 17, she won the “UK International Students Talent Contest,” a competition where she was initially supposed to compete as a pianist before turning to singing on the enthusiastic advice of her teacher.
Returning to Albania at 19, she began working on her first album, released on July 29, 2006. It sold about 15,000 copies, driven by the major hits of the time Zonja dhe zoterinj and Mengjesi im je ti.
She was chosen to represent Albania at the MTV Exit concert that same year.
She participated in numerous Albanian music competitions. At the “Kënga Magjike” festival in 2006 and 2007, she was awarded “Best Dance” with Tani te dua and “Jon Music” with Pa yllin tend, respectively. At “Notafest” 2006 in Macedonia, she won the jury’s first prize with the hit song Leshoje Hapin. At “TOP FEST,” a major festival in Albania, she received the “Best Pop & Rock” award in 2007 for her hit Unik, and in 2008, she won the “Internet” award as well as the first prize with her major success Engjejt vrasin njelloj.
