Beat System

Beat System

Biography

Beat System is a German euro-dance project that emerged in 1994. The collective presents itself as a duo composed of rapper Tony T (born Neal Antone Dyer, also known as Derek Pierce or Neal AD) and various guest singers such as Martina Sres, Patty, Jay Babe, G. Fascina (Giuseppe Fascina) and Janet Puzic. Other contributors like Carsten Zintel, Maurice Coccorelli and Dallas Simpson were also associated with the project.

Their first single, Dance Romance, was released in 1994 on the Intercord label featuring Patty’s vocals. It was arranged and written by C. Kowatsch and Wormit, then mixed by Richard Taylor. Their best-known track, Stay With Me, released in 1995, was written and produced by Axel Breitung and C. Kowatsch, with production by Black Nero. Subsequent singles were mainly produced by C. Kowatsch, Wormit and Ulrich Dienes.

In March 1996 the group released the single Fresh, a euro-rap cover of the hit by Kool and the Gang, combining Tony T’s rap with vocals by G. Fascina; the B-side was Call My Name.

A summer-remixes version of that single appeared in June of the same year. Their sole album, Refreshiator, was published in 1997, after which the project disappeared from the music scene.

During their career Beat System released five singles that achieved significant commercial success, notably in Germany and Western Europe.
