Ayla
Biography
Ayla is the stage name used by German trance producer, songwriter, and DJ Ingo Kunzi.
The project was created in 1995 by Ingo Kunzi. The eponymous single “Ayla” later received a remix by Taucher, which became the most well-known version. This track entered the UK Singles Chart at number 22.
Following the success of “Ayla”, Kunzi co-wrote and produced the collaborative track “Ayla Part 2” in 1998, which entered the German top 40. That same year, he covered “Liebe” by Cosmic Baby and reached number one on the German dance chart.
Ayla’s fifth single, “Angelfalls“, was released in 1999 and reached the top 3 of the German dance chart. In late 1999, Ayla released his debut album, “Nirwana”, which was certified gold in Norway and Singapore.
Kunzi then produced two more Ayla tracks (“Singularity” / “Brainchild II, Sun Is Coming Out”) before putting the project on hold in 2003.
After many years of hiatus, Kunzi released the digital single “Ayla 2010” in 2010. On February 23, 2011, Ayla’s second studio album, ‘Unreleased Secrets’, was released.
Ingo Kunzi began making music at the age of five, building his own studio in 1985. He initially worked on demos for rock bands before discovering electronic music.
The track “Ayla” was used in a McDonald’s advertisement and features on the soundtrack of the British comedy film “Kevin & Perry Go Large”. It remains Kunzi’s biggest chart success to date.
Under the name Ayla, Ingo Kunzi is also known by the aliases DJ Tandu, Montoya, Anakin, Tan 2, and Drop In.
