Alvaro Soler
Biography
Álvaro Tauchert Soler, known as Alvaro Soler, is a singer-songwriter born on January 9, 1991, in Barcelona, Spain.
He was born to a German father and a Spanish mother, making him multilingual from a young age. At the age of ten, he moved with his parents to Japan, where he lived until he was seventeen and took piano lessons.
Upon returning to Barcelona in 2010, he founded the band Urban Lights with his brother and friends. Their music was described as a mix of British pop, indie pop, and electronic music. The band won a university music contest and participated in the Spanish music casting competition ¡Tú sí que vales! in 2013, reaching the top eight finalists. They released a few productions and a self-produced album.
Simultaneously, Soler studied industrial design at Escuela de Grafismo Elisava, attended a music school, and worked with a Barcelona-based modeling agency.
In 2014, he decided to leave Urban Lights to start a solo career, establishing himself as a musician based in Berlin, Germany.
He released his single “El Mismo Sol,” co-written with Ali Zuckowski and Simon Triebel (from the band Juli) and produced by Triebel. Released on April 24, 2015, the track became a huge success in Italy, reaching number one on the FIMI chart and being certified double platinum. It also reached number one on the Swiss Hitparade chart. The single became a pan-European hit, also charting in Germany, France, Belgium, Austria, and the Netherlands.
Based on this success, Soler released his first solo album, “Eterno Agosto,” on June 23, 2015, through Universal Music. The first single from this upcoming reissue was the song “Sofia,” written by Alvaro Tauchert Soler, Simon Triebel, Ali Zuckowski, Jakke Erixson, and Nadir Khayat (RedOne), who also produced it with his team. The music video, directed by Noel Dernesch, was filmed in Cuba in March and presented simultaneously with the single’s release on April 15.
A special Spanish/English bilingual version of “El Mismo Sol” featuring Jennifer Lopez was also made for an international release in the United States, the United Kingdom, and worldwide.
