Activate
Biography
Activate is a Eurodance group formed in 1993 or 1994. The project brought together two rappers and songwriters, Mike Griesheimer and Thomas Detert, as well as several female vocalists, including Helen Smith. The producers were Alexander Stiepel and Andreas Hötter, the latter also being part of the A-Team collective.
Their main period of activity was in the mid-1990s. In 1994 they released several singles, notably Let The Rhythm Take Control, The Beat Of The Drum, and Save Me. In 1995 the tracks I Say What I Want and Tell Me were issued, along with the album Visions.
In 1996 the group attempted a musical shift with the single Rhythm And Drums, but the track failed to achieve the expected success, leading to the end of the Activate project. Afterwards, Thomas Detert and Mike Griesheimer refocused on their other techno project, 666: their first single under that name, Alarma, is a remake of an Activate song of the same title.
