Biography

Abigail (real name Abigail Zsiga) is a singer/songwriter originally from Sankey, Warrington, Cheshire, England, later based in New Haven, Connecticut.

She released hi-NRG covers of popular songs on both sides of the Atlantic, including Constant Craving (originally by k.d. lang), Losing My Religion (originally by R.E.M.) and Smells Like Teen Spirit (originally by Nirvana); the latter peaked at No. 29 on the UK singles chart.

Her debut album, Feel Good, was released in 1995 on the UK label Klone Records. In 1999 she scored with the single Let the Joy Rise, produced by the duo Thunderpuss. In 2000, If It Don't Fit (also produced by Thunderpuss) reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance chart, followed by a second No. 1 Dance hit in 2001 with You Set Me Free. In 2003 she released Falling, which peaked at No. 9, and then put out Songbird, remixed by DJ DoNut and made available as a digital download.

After Songbird, she decided to add her last name to her recordings. She released the album Home…Again in 2005.

In 2006 she contributed vocals to 10 Monkeys’ album Lay Down, and in 2009 she was featured on DJ Bill Bennett’s album Forever Young. Her 2010 album Be Still My Soul is a collection of hymns including Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Be Still My Soul.

In 2013 she returned to the dance scene with Surrender alongside Bouvier & Barona after a brief hiatus.

She is also a supporter of the international human-rights organisation Love146.
