Biography
Brian Transeau, known by the stage name BT, is an American producer and DJ born Brian Wayne Transeau on October 4, 1971, in Rockville, Maryland.
Trained in classical music from the age of 13, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston before fully dedicating himself to the electronic scene in the early 1990s. His musical approach is influenced by classical and avant-garde composers, as well as everyday sounds and rhythms.
A prolific artist and visionary technologist, BT is recognized for his advanced programming work and his use of tools like the CSound language. He founded the company Sonik Architects, developing applications and audio plugins.
Throughout his career, he has used several aliases, including Libra, Elastic Reality, Brian Transeau, Kaistar, and IMA (21).
He has released numerous albums, including This Binary Universe (2006), a work conceived in 5.1 surround sound accompanied by animated videos. His work also extends to film composition.
His productions navigate between several currents of electronic music, including trance, techno, electronica, and dance.
