Biography
Carola is the stage name of Carola Maria Häggkvist, a Swedish singer and occasional singer-songwriter born on September 8, 1966.
She has been one of Sweden’s most popular artists since the early 1980s. Her debut album, Främling, sold approximately one million copies, making it the best-selling album in Swedish music history. Her discography is diverse, ranging from pop and disco to anthems and folk music. Among her biggest hits are Främling (1983), Tommy tycker om mig (1984), Fångad av en stormvind (1991), All the Reasons to Live (1992), I Believe in Love (2001), Genom allt (2005), and Evighet (2006).
She represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest three times: third place in 1983, winner in 1991, and fifth place in 2006.
The name Carola also refers to a 26-year-old Brazilian DJ and producer from Porto Alegre. She received support from David Guetta for the track FKGO, made in collaboration with producer Kohen. She began exploring electronic music in 2007 before starting DJing in 2012, overcoming initial skepticism and financial constraints by learning through online resources. Her musical identity is influenced by artists like Flume, Skrillex, Diplo, and Beyoncé, and she anticipates ongoing exploration and evolution of her style.
