Raver’s Nature

Raver’s Nature

Biography

Raver’s Nature is a German electronic music project originally formed by three members: Markus "Roy" Ströbel, Peter Luft (alias Pedro Ferrari), and Ralf Lindner (alias John Bogota). The group has been active live since 1993.

The project’s idea was born with the Acid wave from England that reached Germany in 1989. Roy Ströbel and Pedro Ferrari began working as DJs at the La Monza club in 1990, playing various styles like Acid, Hip House, and Italo House. It was at this club that they met John Bogota, who brought his experience in sound production on the Amiga computer.

Their first independent production, under the pseudonym Spirit Of Tekknology, was pressed and distributed by themselves in late 1991. Shortly after, they contributed to the creation of the BASH label, which released their second record. Their first major live concert took place at the Love Nation Party in Berlin.

In 1993, the group joined the Low Spirit label, marking the start of a fruitful collaboration. Their breakthrough came in 1994 with two major performances at Mayday and the single Take Off!, which entered the charts. The following track, Stop Scratchin, was also successful. The group received the Camel Move Award for “Best Live Act” in 1994 and was nominated for the VIVAwards in 1995.

The first album, titled La Monza, was released in late 1995, preceded by the single Bring Me Noise. After a studio break, the group returned in 1997 with a renewed sound on the track You Blow My Mind, blending heavy guitar riffs, electronic sounds, and vocal samples.

A period of mystery and side projects followed. The group collaborated with Marusha and released only one production of their own in 1998 under a new name, 3 Wise Monkeys. An album exploring the style initiated with You Blow My Mind was considered but never materialized, as the group realized their audience did not embrace this new musical direction.

In 1999, a new release appeared under the name RN Plus 1, featuring vocals by Calvin Dywane King, in a techno-lectro style supported by Westbam. In early 2000, the group used the pseudonym Fourtech for the single Six Days. This year was also marked by the departure of Pedro Ferrari, who wished to explore new paths.

Roy Ströbel and John Bogota made a comeback under the original name with the single Believe It's True, an uplifting techno track with vocals performed by Roy himself. The following years were punctuated by numerous side projects and collaborations, notably with Maik Maurice of Resistance D, Bas Molendyk, and again with Marusha, as well as performances at Nature One and the Goliath rave in Switzerland.

A new version of Hands Up Ravers was released in 2002. In 2003, a single was produced in collaboration with Bas Molendyk, followed by a “homemade” single at the end of the year. Meanwhile, Pedro Ferrari worked for the Toxic Records label, where he produced and created remixes.

The final release from Raver’s Nature was delayed by a significant decision: Roy Ströbel and John Bogota decided to part ways after fifteen years of partnership. Each then pursued their own path in the music industry. Roy Ströbel founded the project The Kiosk with Mike Rubin and singer Beccy Boo. John Bogota launched his own label, Die Dorfbande, and produced a single with his new partner Rabbeee.

Among the other aliases used by the project members throughout their career are Spirit Of Tekknology, Fourtech, 3 Wise Monkeys, and RN Plus 1.
